Fricken Fracken Truck - I mean LIFE

So Tim spent part of the past two weeks replacing some part of his truck (the manifold gasket) which required him to pull off the top half of the motor and take the part into a machine shop due to his truck constantly over heating. He takes care of it, saves us $100’s of dollars because we don’t take it the repair shop and life is good. Histruck was put back together last Wednesday night and was running great……..unitl yesterday morning. I get a call from him telling me that his truck has overheated AND the battery is dead. I drive down to where he is and pick up his co-worker to drop S off at the job site and fill up some bottles with water. After getting back to Tim, he had managed to figure out that a hose running from the overflow tank back to the radiator was blocked and that is why he had no water in the radiator. Yeah!! Easy fix. Next we move onto the dead battery. We hook up the jumper cables and NOTHING. Charge some more and try jumping again. NOTHING. I run off to Napa and buy a new battery. Bring it back, Tim puts it in and NOTHING!!!! $@&$&!&!&!!!!!! I end up calling a tow truck for him and run back to work. Tim begins to think that maybe it is the starter so while waiting for the tow truck he pulls the starter. Thank goodness he works in the trades and had all his tools with him! LOL

The two truck takes him home, I run home and give him my car, he goes off to get a new starter. Puts it in and NOTHING!!!! So now we have flushed $80 on a new battery and $60 on a new starter and the damn truck still does not start. He and his co-worker are towing it to our mechanic tonight and I’m sure we’ll be dishing out at LEAST $500 to get it fixed.

I can just see it all crumbling around us. His truck is dying and we can’t afford a new one. My check engine light is on and we can’t afford the $3000 to get it fixed and are just hoping to make it next year when it is due for smog, and we are most likely going to have to put the house on the market next month and move into an apartment. Yep, life sucks ass right now.

Drop Off Day

Our county fair starts on Thursday so this year each of the kids made a baked good to enter into the fair. Marshall made grandma Jody’s Texas Apple Pie with grandma Carole’s homemade pie crust. Harrison made chocolate chip cookies, right out of the Joy of Cooking cookbook and Catherine made grandma Jody’s snickerdoodles. This year I opted instead to enter some photos and I am putting 3 in for consideration.

When A Loss Is A Victory

Harrison’s baseball has made it to the State Baseball Tournament as the #3 seed for our county. Today they played the #1 seed for another county. This teams name is…….The South Clackamas Dirtbags!!!! Anyway, they bet us pretty bad earlier in the season, so we were totally expecting to get out butts KICKED. So much so that our coach even picked Visitor to make sure that they most runs they could score would be 15. Well, we lost…..but the score was only 5 - 2!!!!!!

On to round 2 tomorrow morning. Wish us luck. If we lose, we are OUT!!!

Foot Traffic

The one things that sucks about my lack of a decent paying job always rears its ugly head in the shape of car trouble. My check engine light is on AGAIN, and while we are sure it just means that the THIRD catalytic converter has now gone bad we are not taking it into the shop.

Mean while in between while Tim’s truck was starting to overheat on a daily basis. He is doing the labor since his truck is easier to work on. This means however, that he needs my minivan to get to and from work until is truck is fixed. So what does that mean for me? I’m doing a lot of walking and a lot of bumming rides from people to get to and from work.

Maybe I’ll lose 5-pounds by the time I get my car back from Tim! LOL

Extra Innings

Harrison’s team managed to pull themselves out of last place in league standings and made it to the county tournament this week which is the next step before the state tournament.

At Harrison’s division (10 year olds) the kids play 5 innings. The first innings are limited to 5 runs total per team with the 5th inning being unlimited runs.

Thursday night we played 6 innings and lost by one run on a bad play at home plate. The pitcher overthrew the ball, the runner on third came home, the catcher tossed it to the pitcher who tagged the runner out. The homeplate ref yelled out, so Gabe dropped the ball. All of a sudden the field ref yells “he dropped the ball, runner is safe”. Damn….

Friday night we played 8-innings and won by three runs. We were tied at 3 - 3 all the way until the 8th inning.

Today, we played 9-innings and lost by one run again due to a tie with a runner at third stealing home to win the game for the other team.

Now we play Monday night in Gladstone for the buy-in game. If we win that game, we head to state. If the kids lose, our season is over.

What a weekend we have had!!!
